  • Swing Question?

hi, today i went to the driving range and i started hitting fine with my pw, i took a little breather and when i came back to play with the rest of my IRONS, the ball either hooked even though i was a slicer, or barely got off the ground. I have been playing golf for around two months and this does not usually happen to me. I can hit fine and pretty far with my woods but i cant seem to hit consistentaly with my irons of the mat
    and ideas anyone

    thanks

    Re: Swing Question?

    Hi Ali,

Unfortunatly there is no quick way to improve your golf, my only advice is to work on you stance and posture with every ball because if you start wrong you will finish wrong.

You sound like you are doing the right thing ie going to the range and practicing which is good but you must seek some lessons early in your golf so you don't pick up bad habits......also this will help with the poor iron shots, when you have "something" to work on it will improve as apose to hitting balls constantly with no thought.

    Hope this helps

    Ian.

      Frustrating isn't it?

You stopped doing something correctly when you went from hitting the PW and moving on to the other irons. There could be any number of reasons why this happened and there's a skill in being able to isolate the problem and solve it.

I can only second Ian's advice and book a course of lessons. This will not only improve your golf immeasurably but it'll also enable you to diagnose problems by yourself and work to solve them.

Sorry I can't be more helpful at this stage.

To add from my own experience, get some lessons, quick. Practice only reinforces habits - whether they're good or bad. Got a few lessons so that you start out with good habits. (My experience was the other way around-self taught, only to have to fight myself to change and get better results through lessons).
