    Re: The Slot

When I was on the driving range this weekend one of the pros pushed a golf shaft into the ground off to my right side, down my target line (slightly inside) and on a swing plane angle, he said take the club back on the outside of the shaft and return to the ball on the inside of the shaft. He said this would help with my one-piece takeaway, swing plane and drop into the slot.

Since I was leaving and didn't have anymore balls, I didn't have an opportunity to give it a try; has anyone ever done this or suggested this to anyone?

      Re: The Slot

I have to agree with what a lot of what you are saying, I found with my coach he showed me how to grip the club, how to stand, and then how to be at the top of the swing and where to be at the finish. but never showed me how to acheive swing positions or why.

I remeber asking him questions after questions about the swing and swing plane, and he told me if I get to technical I'll never be able to swing a club, he was always saying to me I am thinking to much of what I need to do and that's why I was struggling to swing the club.

He was right to a degree. he showed me grip, stance, wrist cock, top of swing, finish positions, because I swang over the top he told me I needed to swing more from the inside. So I setup, thinking how tight am I holding the club, make sure I cock my wrist, swing from the inside, swing the club right around, no wonder I kept on stuffing up.

I got onto the internet and search golf swings, every one wanted to charge you for basic information, I can't remeber how but I found this site, and have never looked back. I learnt heaps about the swing, and put it into practice. I now can swing the club on plane more times than off, Kiwi can verify that, playing together, he saw how well I hit my full swing.
