  • Understanding my ball flight (Straight-draw)

I have this ball flight for a few years now, and it's annoying me to bits. It's either straight, and then halfway through the flight as the ball is still climbing, it curves off to the left, or it's a slight pull, and the same curve to the left. This produces missed greens to the left. I have attached a drawing of what I see when I take the shot.

What am I doing wrong? I think I'm either coming in a fraction too much under the plane and inside at impact, flicking my wrists over, or I'm coming in with a closed face with a square path, though I'm told I have a neutral grip. Nothing wrong with my alignment

    Thanks all

I would suggest that you are swinging too flat and your clubface is pointing left of the target at the top of your swing. Check your plane and hands at the top. Concentrate on avoiding the cast over from the top and hitting the ball from the inside.

This should eliminate the pull but not the right to left flight.

Definitely hitting with a closed face - sometimes a square path at impact (straight-draw) and an outside-in path for the pull-draw shots.

The clubshaft points a bit to the right of the target, I'm trying to understand how to stop this and swing shorter as well. In addition, I'm finding it difficult to get my right elbow to pass my body through impact. Instead it gets trapped at the SIDE of my right hip rather than in front. I think I'm trying to keep my back facing the target too long. What is the correct sequence? My backside shifts forward slightly on the downswing too, which obviously contributes to my hips getting in the way. I'm wondering wether my hands are flipping over because it is trapped at the hip
