  • Leadbetters got out his new swing trainer,

    for all you gadget golfers.

It just came out today, saw it on the golf channel. Its called the swing setter, gaurantees to "feel" what the golf swing should be like.

You can see it at swingsetter.com

It is a little odd, it contains 2 split balls that in certain parts of your swing slam together via momentum to give you an audible click.

The first click is the momentum of the ball during the backswing, you can only get the click if its on plane. This is a little ridiculous, if you see the infomercial you will see Nick Price having to start his backswing fast to get the ball to click,

The second one occurs at impact, this one makes sense as the audible sound will occur at impact preventing casting.
I think there have been other swing trainers for this.

Anyway thats how I understood it. We shall see, shouldn't be too long and we should see some reviews.

yeah I saw it too, looked pretty cool, Nick Price has the quickest swing tempo anyway, he always has. Watched him on the matchplay today and it is always quick.

Re: Leadbetters got out his new swing trainer,

Look, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. What I predict is that many will buy the Swing Setter and expect miracles overnight. When they don't see results quick they will return it or look for another training aid. It takes about a year to groove a new swing. So many amateur golfers know so much about the swing, yet they aren't willing to put in the work. (Knowing everything there is to know about the golf swing is a great way to get worse.) I see so many people bashing ball after ball on the range without a purpose. The driving range has become the new Fitness Club.
I received the Swing Setter yesterday and am excited about it.

Thats great that there is a new swing trainer. I would rather buy a reguar club or a few lessons rather than a club to get me to swing better

While you think about what you hit for a perfect lay up, you watch me bomb and stand in amazement as im hitting a pitch on 2 and you hit a chip on 3*

*Don't think about the water on the left, just send a bomb over it and the shed*

Brag about your score, not your shots.

For some odd reason i would rather see a 5i ripped 220 on the green than a birdie on the par 5. Good shots lead to good scores

How many golfers can hit a 5I 220 yards? I would say not many.
Golf is about minimizing the damage made by your bad shots. There are plenty of pros at the Masters who will hit plenty of great shots and still not win (This could be said about any tournament.) Most pros will tell you that on any given day, there are only a few shots that went exactly how they wanted them to.
