    Re: pull hook

Ricky, a pull is created by swinging outside in in relation to your target line. A draw spin is created by having the clubface closed in relation to the swing path. The first thing you want to do is get your clubface square to your swing path. Try this drill to get you square: http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/v...rticle.php?a=3.

To fix you pull, you need to attack the ball from the inside of the target line. First, ensure you are high enough on your backswing. Try this drill to check your position: http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/v...rticle.php?a=4.

After you have the right position, start your downswing with a bump of your hips towards the target, drop your right elbow to your right hip and accelerate through the ball.

      Re: pull hook

Your problem is the lagging right side ... your left side has no else to go but left which releases the club to the left, too far to the inside. If your hands try to stop that happening, they will clos ethe club face down, which causes the draw spin.

It's not on everyswing, and probably only on the days when your muscles lose fine motor control.

For those of you that have seen the swing, is he prone to casting? It sounds a bit like it with the occasional cutting and the pull hooks.

Ricky, have you tried the drill where you hit balls with a towel tucked under your right arm and it doesnt fall out until the ball is away? Thats one I like to use to stop casting the club from the outside.

No, he doesn't cast but does tend to get a bit handsy (hence he feels it is loose) at the release and through on some swings. It is still part of his 'muscles memory'. We're only 4 weeks into some swing changes which nothing ...

He also doesn't let his right side and right shoulder turn through soemtimes. They can get left 'standing' way behind the left side instead of level facing the target.
