  • Hyrbid Shots

hi again everybody, with my hyrbid club, i hit it about 165-180, but straight with a tremendous feel. My best shots are with my hyrbid. But i can only hit that off the teeeeeee!!!
For some akward reason when the ball is on the ground (NO TEE) i cant get the ball in the air?

    WHY IS THIS?

    thanks,

Time for all the classic questions:

Are you hitting fat/thin? Big/small/no divot? Ball flight (other than worm burner)?

With my hyrbrid i am hitting fat, i tried to do what Gary Mcord suggested which was to look a couple inches on front of the ball and sweep through but it doesnt work! I cant get clean contact!

OK - this explains why you can get 'er off the tee, but not out of the dirt. I think you're hitting down with your hybrids.

You need to sweep - flatten out your takeaway.

Think of pulling the club through more sideways than down, and see if it doesn't help your sweep.

I'm saying you need to find a way to sweep the ball away (take no divot).

Swing it like a 7 iron.

I would suggest swinging more like a 3 iron. The hybrids are similar in length and distance.

I still say swing like a fairway wood.

Well i have always been told to swing it like you would a 5 - 6 iron. I tried to make my backswing a little more shallow, more like a wood, and it didnt help at ALL.

I'll have to try hitting down with my hybrids once the thaw comes.

I went to the range today, and i couldnt hit for S*$t with the hybirds of the mat, i was hitting it great with my 5 iron, but when i went to the hybird with the same swing, i bombed

What club is closest in length to your hybrid? Try swinging them in sequence.

its probably between a 5 iron and a 5 wood
they say the hybirds give more forgievess, i havent noticed that

When you swing it like a 7 iron, you swing down making the ball go up. Don't be afraid to take a bit of turf after impact with that club. It's the same swing as your 7, 6, or 5 iron, all thats changed is the legnth of the club. If you keep trying to sweep it, all your going to do is top it. Mash that thing !!
