    This is intended for all those who tend to shank or those that have an overly in to out swing path. You may have seen my recent post entitled shanks all over the place in which i was not only shanking full swing shots but some chips as well, and I am by no means a beginner. I have always struggled with taking the club back to quickly to the inside, giving me an exagerated in to out swing path.

    I finally came across a tip that just clicked for me and it might do the same for you as well. It not only improved the speed of the takeaway but also my swing plane. The tip is on page 106 of the april golf magazine with Adam Scott on the cover. Here is quick rundown for the tip for those who don't get the magazine.
    "pretend someone is holding a samurai sword just above you wrist at address. you'll be forced to keep your hands low, uner the sword, which keeps the club in front of your hands, preventing a quick move to the inside. Lift up to soon, and you cut yourself. miss the sword and you on your way to solid ball striking" to give due credit this tip was submitted by Martin Hall of Ibis golf and country club.

    I was a little skeptical of this advice but I tried it and it has worked wonders for me. My best round ever was an 86 and since using this tip I have shot an 83 and an 81. And that was playing on some of the toughest greens I have ever seen. I have had great results with my full swing and short game just by remembering this tip each time I swing. It may not be for everyone but its an easy tip for me to visualize and put into effect.

    I struggle with my takeaway all the time and taking it too the inside. I dont get that mag but i do want to understand what you are saying, i just dont quite understand. Is there a link or something??

      Sorry i do not have a link to this. I will try to describe it the best I can. Address the ball as you would during your normal setup. Now imagine that somebody is standing behind your ball holding a sharp sword just over your hands/wrists. the sword will be running parallel to your body with the tip pointing towards the target. if there really was a sword there and you did not want to cut your wrist you would have to keep you hands low and away from your body on the takeaway. if you took the club back to fast to the inside you would cut your left wrist. this basically forces you to keep the club in front of the hands on the takeaway. hope this helps, it works for me. It is easy to understand once you see the picture in the magazine.
