  • Fix My Slice

I'm kinda new to golf. I golfed a lot 2 years ago and loved it. Now after haveing a year off, i'm getting back into it. I just bought a new Tour Edge driver that has a graphite shaft. It flexes pretty good. I love the club, but when i hit it flys far, and WAY right. A couple of times i'v been able to straiten it out and it'd fly clear over 300 yards. I was wondering if there was any way to position myself or hold the club different, to fix the slice and keep using the club. It's a lot of fun to hit with. It's like 460 cc or something stupid like that. Huge. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

You can move the ball away from your body and move it to the front of your stance. This could straighten out the drive if not.....come back.

If you are a right handed golfer move it to your left yes

Is it just your driver or all your clubs?

Make sure you are coming from the inside on your attack. Also, make sure your clubface is aligned to the target at impact. WAY to the right sounds like an outside-in path with an open clubface. Let me know if you want some drills to work on.

Nah, my irons and woods are good. I can tee up awsome with my 3 wood. But not as far as my driver. I think it's the club face is open during impact, due to the flex and the head not catching up. A couple drills would be great. I still have to try moveing the ball to the left of my stance tomorow. Thanks guys

              Re: Fix My Slice

If it is only your driver, take your club into a fitter to have them test the shaft out. It probably has a high torque and the shaft is twisting, which makes it impossible to square the clubface. This might be fixable with the current shaft if you get your club 'spine aligned'. If not, get the club reshafted with a low torque shaft.

Check out my site for some drills:

Today after class while hitting a couple buckets of balls that it was the attack. I also moved the ball left in my stance(i'm righty) and that helped to straiten it out some. I'm pretty sure that part of it is the club and it's flexible shaft. Another part is i that i need to practice....A LOT. Thanks for all your help. If i need help i'll keep posted. Thanks gord and, bonzi!
