  • Downswing problem

I went to practice today and found out that I would stand up a little bit on the downswing resulting topping the ball or hitting ground before the ball.
How do I correct that problem?
Also, how to initiate the downswing? by kicking the right foot into the gorund?
    Thanks

If you are standing you are probably not transferring your weight correctly. Make sure on your backswing that you are getting your left shoulder over top of your right knee.

    Try these drills:

I do it occasionally, too. It happens when I stand a little too tall at address. The key (for me) is to exaggerate my knee flex a little more at address - it helps keep me loose and down.

Be careful youre bot confusing this with raising up on the backswing. A lot pf people straighten their legs on the backswings and then are then in the wrong position on the downswing

You may be decreasing the flex in your knees. Your posture may be incorrect, the ball may be too far forward. Topping is generally a result of an incorrect weight transfer.
What is your typical ball flight?

Or a combination of many things. I feel that one of the biggest culprit of topping is trying to hit the ball too hard. The tendancy when people try and hit the ball hard is to overwhelm the shot with the arms, thus making them tense and straight (sometimes the legs too) well before entering the hitting zone and resulting in the clubhead passing the hands at impact. So I guess it does all boil down to turning correctly and letting the body do the work rather than the arms afterall.

I think golf is a strange game, because although you can concentrate on particular parts of your swing, the benefit of that correction may not be realised until you change another part of the swing; so you really need to work on all of the swing all of the time. And you you change another part of your swing, the original bit may need altering again ... so it's never endless. Nowonder Mr Leadbeater is so rich

Ball would be straight but not far.
And now my left back hurts, is that because of using too much left hand?
