    Re: toe shots

I was hitting it off the toe alot and got good advice from someone on the site about keeping your hands 6" away from you at address. I had my hands too far away, also had my weight on my toes and when the weight goes back to ur heels (which it will) the club moves with you and u hit it on the toe. So check both of them

You just need to hit the ball in the middle of the face. plain and simple, if you do that you fix your problem.

        Hi Rick,

Keep in mind that your stance should be athletic - your weight should be forward - around the balls of your feet. Toes are too forward, and heels are too back.

Hands too far away will produce toe shots, as your hands and arms naturally drop into the slot, what started as the middle of the club now becomes the toe. Be careful you don't get your hands too far the other way - I don't want to see a post in a week about heel shots and shanks!

As a general rule, if you make a fist, you should be able to place it between the butt of your club and your body, with an inch or so on either side of your hand. If you like to be more precise, give the biggest 'thumbs up' you can, and just touch the butt of your club with your thumb. The heel of your hand should be barely touching you (give or take an inch) for pretty good hand placement.

The most drastic thing you can start to do is to play some blades - every mis-hit hurts! I love my combo irons, blading a 9 iron is something I never, ever want to do again!

        Hope it helps!

If you're looking for more roll off the tee, you can try one of two things:

Get a lower lofted driver, or get a shaft with a high kickpoint. Both will lower your ball flight, and increase your roll.

However, you may not see any distance increase - just your carry to roll ratio may change.
