If you are looking for a golfing aid for the same sort of money (it's about £50 isn't it?!), I would recommend the Momentus Swing Trainer. I borrowed my cousin's and I fell in love with it. The extra weight not only helps you swing on the correct plane but it improve flexibility and clubhead speed, what more do you need?

It's fitted with a moulded grip, perfect if the correct grip is a mystery for you. It's all a great warm up. 10-15 swings before your round is all that is needed.

I just wish they could come up with a Momentus Putter Trainer ! My problem area...

If you want a weighted club and you are even only slightly handy at club making, try this:

          In a word, no.

You notice that during the whole of the ad, Jeff Hawkes never actually uses the thing? Just that poor hacker they got in to do the advert. I would be afraid of breaking the thing, myself. The ball will be absolutely no good cos its got two great ruddy anchor posts in it to hold it to the string. They would be the first bits to go.

I've got a great training tool, find yourself a wide expanse of grass (say 200 yards in any direction will do) and get a bag of old balls and start hitting. A fraction of the cost. And before you say "well you cant do that in bad weather" theres always the local driving range.

You learn nothing about your game from hitting a ball 30 feet. You learn even less swinging a weighted club. The Momentus thing is good for your flexibility and working the specific muscle groups involved in the swing so spend your cash on that if you must. Failing that spend it on a few lessons from a local Pro. the only way to improve is direct feedback from a ball travelling the proper distances in real conditions.
