Re: Shank with Wedge and 9 iron.

      Hi guys

this will sound like madness, but try it. I had the shanks for months, tried everything, couldnt get rid of them. then i rtied this, straight away they left, and i've never seen them since.

When you address the ball, address it so that the ball is right of the hossle, i.e. the shank - WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY?????

Trust me - when you look down and see this, your brain will not let you hit it off the shank - your will make your self hit it off the toe. Have a go at this, it will work. Address the ball out of the hossle and hit it out of the toe.

As for why you are doing this with PW and 9 iron - i would guess that it is due to the fact that you are playing half/ three-quarter shots. These shots promote a dropping of the right side rather than getting the right side through the ball. This can lead to thins, fats and shanks.

try this drill - see if it works.

Let me know, i have other anti-shank drills.

      Will

Hi Mr Shank. this is one of the most frustrating part of the golf game.Especially if you are playing well and all of a sudden Shank! It sounds like to me you are not keeping your head and lower body stable . When your hitting your woods so well to me you are using to much lower body on your higher irons . There should be minimal lower body movement. Practice keeping your head still throughout the swing. This will avoid the tendency to use your lower body. Hope all goes well. Sincerely The Shank Fixer

I have the exact same problem and am paralysed by fear of the shank. However, I was at the range during the week and the guy I've had lessons from before was walking past and gave me a 5 minute free lesson on chipping. He said I was putting too much weight on my heels, which is something I address on all shots other than the chip. It fixed me on the range. I

The only other thing he mentioned was more in the head when he said let the club head swing through the ball as when I'm chipping I've a tendency not to follow through.

I'm playing 9 holes in the morning and I'll throw a few balls down from 50 yards away from the green in and I'll see what happens.
