Re: Coach is away, need help!!

Divots to the right is the result of an inside-out swing path.

If the ball is 15 yards left of your target (I think that's what you are saying) then your clubface is closed, not only to the swing path, but to the target line as well. Either you have too strong a grip and the club face is closed that much at impact, or you are releasing your hands too soon. You want the clubface to square to the target line at impact.

Work on taking short shots, (chipping is a good place to start.) Take the club back along the target line and then down to impact along the target line. Keep working on this and build up to a 1/2 shot, 3/4 shot and finally a full shot as you become more comfortable.

As for releasing too soon, work on GregJWillis' right hand drill:

Ricky, slow down and re-read Divot to the right is an inside-out path. No matter how far right, inside-out swing path.

Ball moving to the left is a closed clubface.

This is what Travino did. Best thing to do is try to keep the clubhead going back along the target line as long as you can. You definitely want to come as close to inside-square inside as possible, but if you can't, inside out is much better than outside-in.

A new grip position takes a while to get used to. Remember, your hands are the only part of your body that is connected to the club. With that, it tells you how important it is to have the correct grip. Try my drill for clubface alignment at impact: http://members.shaw.ca/gord962/drills/clubface.htm

This will tell you how each hand should be positioned when gripping the club so your hands will naturally square the club at impact. It is also important that you are no releasing before impact. Even with an weak grip if you are releasing too soon you will probably draw/hook the ball.

haha you are confusing yourself. jus try picking a spot on the ground and take the club over it on the backswing and try to come down the same way on the downswing. i made CCS ( its like the championship of my league, im pumped , my average is 2 over!)
