  • Thanks for the tips

I just got back from the driving range and tried two tips that I read on this site.

    1. Keep right hand cupped through impact. (not sure I fully accomplished that)
    2. Think of the ball as being sqaure and try and hit it from the inside right corner through the outside left corner.

My ball went farther with less effort and even had a little draw on a few of them (have never been there done that before). I did not seem to get the ball as high as I am used to. Any particular reason for that?

If you are hitting a slight draw it is because you are now, as you said, swinging from inside-out. With this, your clubface must still be squared to the target. Therefor, the clubface is closed to the swingpath, creating a counter clockwise spin, forcing the ball to move from right to left. With the closed face to the swingpath at impact, this creates a lower ball flight.

      Gord,
Thanks. So if I want a higher ball flight I should change nothing but move the ball further to my left foot, or would this screw things up. I would say that my six iron flies like a four iron.

Are your shots really low now or are you used to hitting really high shots and now the trajectory has gotten lower?

As for ball placement, make sure you are striking down on the ball. You can move the ball forward in your stance as long as you can still put a descending blow on the ball.
