I, recently, had my swing analyzed by the Taylor Made MAT computer system as I had gone back to my old way of erratic ball striking and having to scramble my way round the course.

They burnt a CD of my swing, which I have been looking at in an attempt to find out what is going wrong. I notice that my downswing has got very narrow. This may be why I am hitting a lot of fat shots, even with a 5 wood.

Can anyone comment whether this is really a downswing fault or, something which is caused by an error in the backswing. More importantly; how to fix it.

    Thanks

      Hi Greg,

      Thanks for your response.

Sorry, I'm not able to publish as the format for the CD doesn't seem to permit copying. I can't even copy it to my hard drive!!! I will get in touch with the company, who did the analysis, on Monday, to see whether there is a method of resolving this.

In the meantime, I can offer some observation (albeit from my untrained eye). I notice that at the top of the backswing my left elbow is quite far away from my body and the angle between upper arm and forearm is quite wide, well in excess of 90 degrees. Could this have any bearing on the problem? Incidentally, I'm a leftie.
