hi all im new here, i've been having problems with a hook for a few years now and it pisses me off. im a 2 handicaper that plays good golf but most of the time a hit a few hooks in a round that screws me up. my ball starts straight then hooks to the left, i barely take divots and when i do take some its straight to my target line. with my short iron i tend to pull the ball on my bad shots and with my driver and 3-wood i hit it mostly perfect everytime on some occasion i hook it or push it. the driver and 3-wood i hit it in the center of the golf club but with my iron i hit it almost everytime on the toe. can anyone tell me what im doing wrong?

Re: toe hit with a hook
Mathgolf,
It sounds to me like you have slipped into leaving the club behind, you either flip the wrists in an effort to catch up and hook or just a straight push, look at your stance, if it's wide then it's difficult to get through quick enough, most low h/cappers started as children and get through the ball very well due to them carefree days.
When the stance gets wide you can catch some thin too. Try a slightly narrower stance and you should create a steeper angle of attack and less from behind.
Hope this helps
Ian.

Re: toe hit with a hook
thanks for the reply i will try that as soon as posible cause i know i have a wide stance. with that i would like to add that it could be posible that my hands is too fast for my body, im a very long hitter with a swing speed of around 130 mph that last time i checked.been playing since the age of 14 turning 20 this year.

Re: toe hit with a hook
hi, i want to add something to this tread, im still hooking the ball. something i found strange is that i can't hit the sweet spot on any of my irons but with my driver and 3-wood its okay.i've been hitting the toe for about 2 years now and im sick of it. i mostly hook everything(use to be a slicer a few years ago). i've seen here that a toe hit can be due of a too much inside aproach but i can't see with it would be a too much inside aproch if i take a weak grip and still hook it. with a weak grip and inside it would tead to make a push i supose. Anyways anyone has a tip to give me that i could try?

Re: toe hit with a hook
i've tryed to aligne the ball closer to the heal today and i'm still hiting the toe. I've tried a weak grip again and it seems to work hiting moe the sweet spot but still hokking the ball sometimes.. its not really a hook its more of a draw but i hate it. i hit a ball with a hook on #18 and went past the grenn hole is 355yards. can beleive i still hit hooks with a weak grip.

Re: toe hit with a hook
I know it is only a bandiade fix, but on shots you cannnot afford to have a draw, open your clubface on alignment.

Re: toe hit with a hook
The other easy cause of toe hits is reaching for the ball (aka standing too far away).
