  • new flatter swing problems!!!

Had a lesson with my pro, and my swing was too upright so it's now slightly flatter.
I have started pushing the ball and hooking occasionaly and was wondering if the new flatter swing could be the cause????

I know it is caused by a throughswing too much on the inside but could it just be because of the seing chase!

any drills for getting a inside to square to inside impact area??

    thanks

You can try the drill I just gave young Ricky - put a water bottle just past impact position outside the target line. Leave enough room for your club to clear the impact zone and no more. That way, if you hit the water bottle you are coming too far from the inside.

I dunno ... what did your pro do to your swing to make it flatter - tell you to stand further away from the ball? If you ground the club correctly, the length of the shaft and the angle of the shaft in relation to the clubhead determine how far you stand from the ball, assuming you have had your clubs measured to fit you.

How much flatter do you swing now is? It might not even be your swing plane that is causing your new ailments. I can't speak for others but I know when I've had hooking or slicing trouble, I discovered that it was because of my alignment or ball position (further forward/back in the stance) that was causing the problems.

Although golf isn't a high energy sport like football or basketball etc ... it is possibly the most technical sport around. This means that elements of your swing may change without you realising it so it really necessary to practice continually and consult your pro regularly. The secret of golf is to identify your errors at an early stage and remedy them as soon as possible. This is very difficult to do and I know that I have, in the past and probably in the future too, been guilty of trying to remedy problem that doesn't actually exist.

It was changed in that I was essentially lifting the club straight up so it was above my neck at the top. Now it is abouve my right shoulder.

I think I have stopped clearing my hips, by not turning my left hip. I played the other day and focused on turning my left hip was hitting really well, except for a few pushes out right.

Any good drills for turning your left hip so it is cleared???

Assuming you are a RH golfer, you should not be turning your left hip, you should rotate AROUND your left hip. Your left side should act like a gate post and your right side should rotate around your left side, turning through the ball.
