  • Straight left or Sliced Right

I'm having trouble with my swing. I'm either hitting the ball straight as an arrow left or a slice. I'm sure i come over the top but I don't know for certain. I also think i release the club too early. Has anyone got any good tips. Check my swing out here: http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/v....php/photo/477
Any advice will be very welcome. I am beginning to lose my mind.

It doesn't look like your coming over the top, if you are it's very slight. It does look like your shoulders are already turned through the ball before the club makes impact. It also looks like your pulling the club to the inside to much right before impact. Try reaching out through the ball so you swing is more inside to outside. So your divot will be slanted to the right "/".

There are more qualified people to give advice, so I'd wait to hear from someone else before you take my advice.

Thanks for the reply. I do feel my follow through is quite short. Sounds like your advice is good to me. I'll try making a wider turn through the ball and see how that goes.

Re: Straight left or Sliced Right

You were right on with your comments Dany. There is a very VERY small outside-in movement, try coming inside out by getting your hands just slightly higher at the top of your backswing This will allow you to drop your hands during the followthrough to get a inside-out or inside-square-inside attack.

Your straight shots are a result of a square swing path to the target line and a square clubface to the target line. When you pull then slice/fade, you are now causing the ball to start on the same path as your swing (outside-in) and the clubface is open to your swing path creating a clockwise spin on the ball causing it to move to the right.

I think you snap up a little too early at impact - probably anxiety of seeing where the ball has gone. If you straighten the spine early you have no option but to pull the clubhead off line. Try keeping the spine angle at the end of the follow through ... even if it does mean bending sideways. To help the body rotation, keep looking at where the ball was until you've fully finished... and then some.

Thanks for the swift replies. Just got back from the range and I'm feeling a lot happier. I tried extending the swing through the ball and it made a huge difference. I really was rotating too quickly. I was still hitting a very slight fade but nothing near a slice. I'll let you know how i go after my next round.
I'll get some more video footage on here too.
