  • Why Am I Pulling the Ball?

I recently started pulling the ball pretty badly. I still hit the ball high and solid but just about every shot goes left. It's not a pull-hook but more of just a pull. Sometimes it curves more left and sometimes it is a relatively straight ball flight but still way left of target. I do not know what is causing this.

I read another thread where it was suggested that this could be caused by a "lagging right side" but I don't know what that means.

    Anyone have any ideas?

To pull the ball your swing path is outside-in. Work on getting your hands high at the top of the backswing and work on attacking the ball from the inside. Allow me to borrow Mizunoman's analogy: imagine the ball is square. Try hitting the square from the bottom right corner through to the top left corner. This will create a good feeling of coming from the inside which will eliminate your pull shots.

Just a quick clarification. The directions from gord is from your stance. Not from behind your ball. Right handed you think of the club moving in this direction "/".

Thanks for the help! I understand exactly what you are saying. I do have a tendency to come from the outside, which I am always fighting, so I think this will help me out.
