Recently, i entered my first card to obtain a handicap and scored 87 on a par 70 course. During the round i concentrated on taking away together and stoping my head getting ahead of the ball at impact. Is this is correct thing to do because i am sure that when my head moves forward i tend to push the bal.

Getting ahead of the ball - push
Hi parryben,
Yes, you are on the right lines here. If your head moves ahead of the ball too much before impact then you will tend to push the ball because the clubface will generally be left open (pointing right - for right hander!) this is often referred to as a block. Try and keep your head and body level or slightly behind the ball coming into impact, with the head remaining as steady as possible throughout the backswing and downswing coming into impact with the ball.
