When I practice often for a few days in a row I get a blister on my left thumb print. I have also noticed that my grip becomes worn down to the right side of the grip exactly where I place the left thumb. I noticed that I have a restricted wrist cock. Could I be applying too much pressure with the thumb or possibly placing it too far right on the shaft? Just wondering if this is normal.

Re: Left Thumb
I see this often ... it's prossible that your thumb position is correct but I can't say for sure becuase I haven't seen you grip. But yeah, it's probable that your grip pressure is too high if you're wearing your grips.
Pro's go through 3 or 4 sets a year and they use them every day ... if you make a wear mark ina few days sumthing's wrong.
On the restricted wrist cock, let me explain by practical example:
Take your left hand and put the pad of your thumb on a table. Now press lightly and move your left wrist and test the range of motion ... it moves easily and the range of motion is very high. Yes?? Now, put significant pressure on your pad and move your wirst. See ... it takes more muscle effort to move it and the range of motion is less. Yes????
That's why grip pressure is to important. The little muscles in your fingers are linked to the muscles in your wrist and forearm. I forget what "linked" muscles are called, but they all work together. As you tighten one, they all tighten.
Okay? Make sense?
Now ease off on the grip pressure.
Do this excercise:
Get someone to hand you a cup of coffee. (Yeah!) You know how hard to grip the cup or mug, right? When your buddy hands you a Coke (or Bud or Guinness or whatever) you just take hold of it. You don't have to think about how hard to hold it and nor do you squeeze the daylights out of the cup or can. Right?
Now when you take the golf club out of the bag and hold it in your left hand, again you know how hard to hold it. That's exactly the pressure you need ... exactly as if you were holding it to give it to someone or where given the club ...
Okay? Remember that because grip pressure is the root of many evils.
