Over swing

Hi peps

I am looking for a little help with my swing. i have been told i have a very good swing except for an over swing (ie the John Daly type or as near as) can anyone give me a stop point to aim for to prevent this over swing. any pointer for thought might be of help.

I daresay that you'll need to videotape your swing, so that you can see at what point you're overswinging (club past parallel). Then you can see where your arms are, etc, and look to stop there.

Over swing is not a problem if you keep it on plane, John daily does and he is a great ball striker. It's only when your over swing it costing you accuracy, and or distance you need to change it.

Try starting out on the range hitting what feels like 3/4 swings! You will need another set of eyes to help with feedback but you will be surprised that you are right at parellel or just short of it. I had the same problem and this help me fix it quick. I just always try to think of swing with a good tempo and stopping at 3/4 quarters in my swing. The accuracy and distance might just improve quicker than you expected.

all three reply's are bang on as a video will be a set of eyes when there is no one around to assist, and my over swing has proven to lead to inconsistant shots between lenght and line of flight, from hook to slice over all i hit with a little draw but when i over swing through out all clubs it's all guess work as to where the ball is going .

So i shall try and video or get someone to spot when i am at parallel as i tryed the three quarter swing well i think it was but i will see if it was or not as the result i was getting surprised me .

My monies on Eddies answer. I think he has nailed it right on the head.

Overswinging is a big problem I know Daly can do it but how many other pros do you see with a swing like his? also how well doe's John rank on accuracy?
