  • middle and long irons going left

I am in my late fifties, golfed for some 35 years, and have suddenly developed a problem of hitting my irons 10-15 degrees to the left with no draw/fade . I have double checked my grip and am hesitant to make any drastic changes to what was normally a fairly good swing. The distance is on, but not the direction. Woods and short irons are still fine! Any suggestions?

If the ball is heading left with no draw/hook then you are pulling the ball. This is caused by an outside-in swing path. To correct this, ensure your takeaway path is along the target lin for as long as possible. When you get to the top of your backswing, ensure your hands are high - right arm should be in the waiter position:
upper arm (bicep/tricep) is 90* to your right side
forearm is 90* to your upper arm
hand is 90* to your forearm
As you start your downswing, your right elbow should drop to your right hip and then accelerate through the ball.

Could this also be caused by coming in to steep with these irons? I heard that somewhere and thought it might pertain to this topic.
