  • Nasty slice.

I ahve always played well with my irons, even the long irons, however 50 percent of the time I will slice the ball with my driver off the tee. I was told by an observant left handed golfer that my hips are clearing to quickly allowing by hands to lag behind, causing an outside to inside swing path. Of all the advice I have ever had this does sound most logical as I have tried everything else. Any thoughts on this?

if your club is lagging behind, you will be coming from the inside. this can cause shanks, and pushes, with a slow releash you will get a push slice, and with an early releash you will get hooks. majority of slices are caused from your shoulders starting to early in your downswing, which pushes your club outside your swing plane.

Try swinging slower and let the speed build up gradually. That might help. It did for me.
