  • Any feedback on Elegante Ladies Clubs???

I'm seeking to purchase a set of sticks for my wife who is a beginner and taking lessons. She has been practicing with the TM Miscela clubs that were also recommended to us to purchase. Nice sticks but extremely expensive...even on ebay. I did run into an ad from Golfbestbuy.com describing their Elegante clubs. These are clones based on the Miscela model, however, sell for hundreds less.
Has anyone anywhere, ever seen or played with these clubs? If so what did they feel like and were they worth the value?
    Thanks.

    Hi.
Can give you some feedback about clones, but not that particular set.

I bought some clone forged blades after thinking about the pros/cons of cavity backs.

These new clubs are awesome and were a third of the price of the big brand. AND they've got a higher spec shaft.

I can't say they're better or worse than the big brand clubs, because I didn't ever play with them, but these clones are plenty good enough for me, so I'm very happy I saved the money.

Maybe when I'm a pro I'll have to start using a big brand as part of a sponsorship deal, but I don't think I'll ever need to buy them. And I'd guess that any pro would be happy to use these clones.

Make sure to go to a pro shop and have her hit the clubs first. Clubs hit differently for every person. I'm a fairly new golfer myself and I have three drivers because my friends say "You have to have this club" or it has a great review online.

I finally went to the pro shop and found the club/shaft that works best for me and I am hitting it straighter and longer than ever.

When comparing the OEM and clone club sets, you should be comparing both the heads and the shafts. The shafts are in many respects as or more important than the heads. Don't forget the OEM's have top line shafts, prticularly if you're looking at graphites.

I've said this before. If you are not being fitted, at the least hit balls, before you buy. Many top stores have the screens to shoot into with computer feedbacks measuring, ball speed, launch angles etc. Some of the stores here also allow you to take out a club (say a five iron, or wood, taped up) for the weekend. Ypo have to leave a credit card blank. Nothing beats this for real feedback.

          Fixed it for ya.

Now, it's better than it's ever been (for example, the VS Proto in the Nikes profile like the aftermarket VS Protos), but the OEM's still have a bad rep to beat when it comes to their shafts.

            LowPost42,

The point I was making is that some of the clone sets, which are being sold (at the back of the Big Stores, or by "Golf Super Duper Warehouse", for instance for $199 for a 8 iron graphite shafted set, may have "no name" or low end big name shafts. Of course, a clone set made by a reputable club fitter and maker will have upper end components, which will bring the price up, or equal to the OEM, although they may well perform better, because of the skill and consideration of the clubmaker.

As you and I know, we can buy graphite shafts from $8.00 to hundreds of dollars each, and you can buy heads from $5.00 and upwards. The shafts you would get with an off the shelf, say TM R7, would at least be a middle to middle upper end well known brand shaft (which you can upgrade), whereas the ones for the clone set may be a "SuperConcordial 11 Men's Flex", which may have the properties of a 2x4 or a buggy whip. The heads may be "white metal", or stainless steel which mysteriously starts to rust.

Many novices see the two sets, and can't understand why the cheaper one at $199 would not be the same as the one for $500, after all they have the same looking heads and flashy graphite shafts.

I'm on a roll. Once again, I've misinterpreted your post. You're right - the quality of 'Walmart' clubs is certainly suspect.

Hey, LowPost42, I know you're getting on in years, not so much as me, but from now on, it's a bunch of these "rolls" into senility

Well if she is truly a beginner start her off with some cheaper clubs try to find something forgiving tho. This will give you a good gauge as to whether she wants to stick with it and pick up the game. Once it is something you know she will stick with then move up to some better clubs.
