i was told by my local golf pro that on the backswing and the follow-thru if you stop the club at waist high the club head should be pointing at 12 oclock. then i was talking to a pro at a golf galaxy and he said that the club head should be at 11 oclock and that it squares up to the ball. i'm new to the game, any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: position of club at waist high ??
When your shaft is horizontal both ways, your clubhead should be straight up. Plain and simple

I'm with Bonzi, I was always told to have the toe of the club pointing straight up. Clubface pointing to the ground ends up in a pull or hook. Clubface pointing skywards ends up in a push or slice.
