  • Drives leaking off to the right

    HI there guys

When I hit my drives, they leak a little off to the right. I sometimes slice my driver too. The driver I currenly have is a cheap driver and i am getting the taylor made r510 tomorrow which i am pretty excited about. I don't feel like i am casting which causes a slice i think. I have a momentus swing trainer and have tried putting a piece of wood on the ground and trying to make sure i keep on the correct swing path.

Any advice to help with my drives please tell, if any replies before tomorrow then i would be greatful

Losing to the right is frequently a problem with the shaft being too stiff. If getting a new driver, ensure the shaft is frequency matched to your swing.

Also check the weight of the shaft, you might find it is too heavy for you as well. As a general rule you should use the lightest whippiest shaft you can control.

I always get a 65-70 gram shaft in a stiff flex an inch longer than standard because that set up allows me to bash the **** out of the thing without losing control, in fact if anything it goes straighter. It's basically turned it into a percentage shot. When in doubt, thump it.

Try a few different set ups and see if you can find a shaft that lets you hit the ball hard and keeps it straight. It is possible, I know a few guys who have them, one guy a scratch player who gave me the info to get my own set up.

Leaks are sometimes caused by an outside swing. Attack from the inside and release a little bit earlier, that should help out.
