  • Iron Pivot Drills

When I am hitting with my irons I am not pivoting my rear leg. When I make pratice swings, my pivot happens naturally. However, when there is a ball in front of me, my timing is off, and I have trouble making a well-timed pivot. When I use anything other than my irons, I have no problem with the pivot. I am wondering if there are any good drills I could use to correct this problem? I think, I should be concentrating on the ball, and let the pivot happen after contact - but that feels artifical with no real transfer of power....

I am much obliged for your help!

    Re: Iron Pivot Drills

    Dear jamesh,

I am having somewhat the same problem. I found a nice site on the web by Greg Willis. He is listed as one of the instructors here on this site. He has an excellent drill for working on the pivot and expecially at impact.

Here is the link to the page:

Try the "Indoor drill". It gives you a great fell of what the pivot should feel like.

    Hope this helps!
