Re: 3 Iron Stinger (Stock Shot)
Its like any other non standard shot, Ricky, its only as good as the amount of practice time you allocate to it. As a junior you have a fair old time to give so I don't see why you shouldnt try and build it in to your game. I wouldn't recommend it to guys who play inland tree lined courses or guys who dont practice more than a couple of hours a week. Shots like that need a lot of attention cos they are different to the normal grooved full swing.
I get a bit annoyed when the golf magazines come out with the 'Teach yourself Tigers winning shot at the such and such' or 'Punch fade for lower scores' As if the game isnt hard enough for club golfers without encouraging them to play difficult shots that the Pros that play them have to practice half an hour every day. I was reading Golf Monthly and the cover said 'Mental Tips To Boost Your Score' it was the second biggest headline on the cover and of course the mag is covered in cellophane so I cant look inside to check. I buy the mag and peel off the '50% ads and no real information despite your £3.50 cover price' protection and flip to the page noted in the contents. What do I find? One page with 5 short paragraphs on the same tip maybe 30 words a paragraph on average. And of course at the bottom of the page theres a website address for the guy doing the tipping's company. Basically they have put a cover headline on for a glorified advert. Anyone else come across this kind of stuff and as tired of it as me?
