I've looked around at various web sites promoting golf instruction products--there certainly are a ton of them to look at. For some reason, this one caught my attention:
http://mcgolf.com
The site promotes the instructional videos and training aids developed by Jim McLellan. Like all such sites, there are testimonials from people who "tried everything else," etc.
Nevertheless, I'm intrigued by McLellan's philosophy of golf instruction, which is that most conventional instruction is too analytical, breaking the golf swing into component moves that are impossible to control because it all happens too fast. I have to confess that I have found this to be true of a lot of golf instruction materials I've seen.
Also, the video of McLellan's swing, at http://mcgolf.com/embed.the.perfect.swing.shtml, is very pleasing to watch. I downloaded it and set the video player to repeat it, just to imprint it in my mind.
Apparently, McLellan's approach is that there are three things about the golf swing that *can* be readily controlled, and if you get these right, the other things should click in automatically. They are: high backswing (hands above head), keeping head still, and follow-through that mirrors the height of the backswing. Seems simple enough--maybe too simple?
I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with these videos and/or McLellan's approach to instruction.
