    Re: Across The Line Tips?

Well Rick, if you're swing path is still OK, you might be casting from the top (aka uncocking your wrists early). This would get the clubhead outside the line, leaving no choice to pull it back inside.

Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with an inside-out swingpath getting the club across the line.

      Re: Across The Line Tips?

In golf the body rotates and the arms go up and down. I've seen some people kinda swing their arms independantly of the body when the hands get above hip height. The distance at which the arms move seems to be inconsistent so consequently it follows that the shot will be inconsistent too. The modern swing evolved of the theory that keeping the swing uniform will result in the same movements each time thus providing a chance of playing the same shot over and over again ... grooving the swing so-to-speak. When I swing I just maximise my shoulder turn and let the arms do what they want to do rather than trying to swing them further back it an attempt to get greater power.

If you find you slice quite a bit, maybe you're standing a little to close to the ball and therefore swing a bit steep, which generally leads to the club shaft pointing across the target line at the top of the backswing.

You're right elbow may be sticking out a little too. If you right forearm is near vertical at the top of the backswing (as though your carrying a tray on the palm of your hand) it maight help your swing to remain more compact and tidy and restrict extra movement.

Also examine your wrist motion. If you hold a club vertically out in front of you and rotate the wrist, look at how much the club head moves. Think about where the clubhead will be in your swing if you make these movements independantly of your arms. Your wrists should move up and down (cock) and not sideways (open/close) or rotate which also opens or closed the club face.

        Hi Ricky,

This is an old problem of mine, the answer is simple, take your club to the top, looking at you reflection is best.

Now look at your left wrist, it will be cupped, if you straighten or slightly bow it you will notice the club shaft move to the opposite and be a little laid off, find your own best position.

P.S. it is quite hard to change at first because it feel like your are bowed when infact you only move half an inch.

        Good Luck

        Ian.

Hi rick, check out your wrists at top, your left wrist should be flat or slightly cupped. Your right wrist should be positioned like a waiter carrying a drinks tray. Also I have a feeling you may have a flying right elbow, try to get to top with right upper arm comfortably close to body. Nicklaus had aflying right elbow but he was a genius. Kind regards.
