  • Another Slicer

I have greatly enjoyed this site. In particular, I found the "Right Hand Drill" from GregJWillis to be especially helpful -- probably a must read for everyone new to this board.

I have struggled with slicing my drives forever. When I first followed the lesson above, I had excellent results -- most of my drives turned into nice draws -- I thought this was a miracle. I did notice that as I got tired, there was a tendency for the slice to return -- more of a straight/push slice.

Lately I can't seem to do anything but fade/slice. It seems like I setup square, but I feel like when I'm striking the ball, my hands are ahead of the ball and the clubface is open.

Not sure if this is a clue -- but most of my shots come off the middle to toe of the club -- rarely off the heel.

I have read in numerous places, not to worry about releasing the club -- it will happen naturally -- I've tried relaxing my hands/wrists, but it seems like then, the club just flails and I end up with a bigger slice. What exactly should I be feeling? How should the club feel just after impact?

It seems like when I try to follow Greg's advice to keep my right hand cupped, I'm creating tension in my right forearm, and I know tension is the death of the swing, am I doing something wrong?

I know there are a lot of thoughts in here, but any help is much appreciated.

Ensure you have an inside-out or inside-square-inside swing path. ALSO, ensure you are transferring your weight correctly. Lastly, watch to see if a slide has crept into your swing. All three can cause a fade/slice.
