  • Staying inside the feet......

    Ok just a quick question:

In your swing, as you go to your take away, do you try to stay inside you outter foot or can you move over it? What I am asking is do you try to stay b/t your feet in your swing..

Do I keep what between my feet?

    Do I slide? No.

Am I trying to keep my shoulders between my feet? Yes, usually.

Am I trying to keep my hands between my feet? No.

In a two plane swing, you can often preload the trailing side (ie weight distribution 40/60 lead/trail). In a one plane swing, you'd try to keep it 50/50 - with zero lateral movement.

Well, what I should have typed was:

"During the swing, does the HIPS stay inside of your feet??"

        Ah.

The answer is yes. If your hips get outside your feet, you're sliding - and giving up distance.

Here is my Table Drill. You'll find out in a hurry if you have a slide (and if you do, you'll soon feel the coil as your hips stay put as your shoulders turn).
