  • Setup question.

At the range the other day, I was trying to figure out my inconsistency with accuracy on my irons and I noticed an issue with my setup. When I set up to the shot my feet knees and hips are all aligned properly but my shoulders aim well left of the target (Fitting to my huge fight against out to in swing). I tried a couple different approaches to getting my right shoulder lower without dropping it toward the ball and failed miserably. When I do get into a position where I have my right shoulder lower and in line, I feel a TON of tension in my lower back, right above my right hip.

So to test how this effects my accuracy a pressed my left knee forward ( toward the ball, effectively aiming knees right of target ) to offset the shoulders and hit within 20 feet of the pin for 10 shots at 200 yards, same at 150 though more like 10 foot dispersion. Great results, but unacceptable.

I cannot throw another flaw on top of this one to get by. It will only bite me later on.

So long story short, has anyone had this issue? Anyone have any drills that will help me get to where I can drop my right shoulder and still remain in line. The tension I felt sucked, but is it something that should be there and have just never experience so it is uncomfortable?

Any help is appreciated, mostly from the pros =)

    Re: Setup question.

Don't drop your right shoulder, but lift your left. Keep your left arm straight at setup and relax your right.
