My swing plane is really flat and id like to correct that. I made an effort the other day to be steeper and I really liked how I struck the ball but I couldnt do it consistently unless I thought hard about it. What drill can I use to commit it to muscle memory?

Re: Swing plane drill
You might be coming too fast inside at the start of your takeaway? If I recall correctly, there's a drill where you put another ball about 8 inches behind your ball along the target line. During your takeaway, make sure you sweep this ball back straight. That should prevent you from taking your club too far on the inside too soon.

Re: Swing plane drill
There is a pretty well known drill where you take your setup position with your rear end a couple of inches away from a high wall or fence. Then slowly take your full backswing; the club should not touch the wall. The general idea is that your club shouldn't get much farther in back of you than your butt, but it's very difficult to feel this, so the wall drill gives you some feedback.
Also, if you just work on keeping your left arm pretty straight, and getting your hands high in the backswing, it pretty much forces you to straighten up the swing plane. This is something I work on a *lot*, because it makes or breaks my swing. If I get so it *feels* like my left arm is as straight as a ramrod, in reality it'll get a slight bend at the top of the backswing, which is acceptable. If it bends to the point where I can actually feel it, it's bending too much and my swing plane is toppling over to the back. But I've had to videorecord my swing repeatedly to see this.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: Swing plane drill
While I like ubizmo's drill, I've got to offer this warning:
It will not work with a one plane swing. The 1PS naturally comes 'inside too early', and is considered 'too flat'.
Only try to correct being 'too flat' if you're using a two plane swing.
