  • Rotating your fore arms on the downswing

I was hitting a slight push during my last round.

I was wondering if I should rotate my fore arms on the downswing ?

Will this cure my push shot ?

    Thanks !

Re: Rotating your fore arms on the downswing

You better be rotating your hips first...to the point where your bellybutton is facing the target before impact. Then I would be willing to bet that you will not push anymore without even thinking about your arms.

If you are still pushing, then it would be because of a slide forward. Stay "inside a barrel" and rotate about 1 axis (your left leg).

If you are still pushing, then it is probably your arms hanging back too much and your lower body out racing them to the ball. This usually ends up in a slice where the ball curves. And you are pushing where the ball just goes straight. So 99% chance it is either or both of the first 2.

      Hi Greg

The advice about the bellybutton facing the target before impact:

I've just been looking at my swing and I don't do this at all. My bellybutton is nowhere near facing the target even at impact. Do you know any drills to help me with this ??

      Thanks

        The Impact drill works

That might help you draw the ball (have it curve toward the target), but it won't change the initial direction. The club path dictates the initial direction, while the club face determines the spin.

Greg is right, I would think. You're probably swaying\sliding and not rotating. If you sway, your club catches the ball early while still on the inside part of the path, shooting it to the right.

I will give the impact drill a go.

              I forgot to mention this.

Apart from pushing full shots, I also tend to push little pitch shots as well.

              Does this change anything ??

                Sounds like alignment now...
