  • The dreaded S***k....

    Hi all,

I have been practising stopping my wrist roll with great results, I have just been hitting my Ben Hogan Apex Blade 4-iron at the range 210 yards with great ball flight, I was feeling brilliant, then out of the blue, s***k happens , then all the next shots are great again, would the s***k be due to possible wrist roll sneaking back in ?

    Regards,
    Steve

It makes sense to me - over or under rolling the wrists can lead to totally wrong parts of clubs being presented to hit the ball.

Just something for you to try. I had the same problem and found that by reducing my hip turn and concentrate on coming through with my shoulders more that it almost stopped the sh***ks . I think it is due to being more flexible after hitting a few balls and this increases hip turn which pushes your hands out. Something like that anyway.

I think this is a classic case of not getting through the ball, the shot you are attempting needs just as much commitment through the ball as a full shot, but for some reason it is harder to get though when you are trying to control the club face at impact. (hence the S***K)

This is only my experiance, I only ever hold the face open with a 9 iron down to wedge because it's easier.

        Hope this helps

        Ian.
