  • Curing a Duck Hook

Recently i have developed a horrible duck hook. My shots go very low then go off left and hit the ground quickly and roll a ways. The lower the club the worse the duck hook is. On my 6 iron and up it rarely happens. So I was wondering what the causes are for these shots, as well as a cure or something to practice.

    Re: Curing a Duck Hook

Hooking is caused by having the hands releasing before the hips, shoulders and arms have made their full rotation before impact. This gets the club face in a closed position causing the lower flight and hook spin you are seeing.

I bet you are using your hands incorrectly (about 90% of all amature players do this). Go here to fix this problem.

Right hand drill (Left hand for lefties)
