Just wanted to thank someone (i think they posted on this site, maybe old) for the advice to not overgrip (too firmly) the driver. loosened the grip on the tee and what a difference . Have applied this advice the last three rounds and really has helped. Today was on in two on a 450 par 5 ( 35' lag putt to tap in the 12" birdie putt ) and then drove about 6 yds past the 150 marker on a 422 par 4. figure i am now hitting 265 - 270 with the driver (and straight) and is a real improvement over my previous 230+-. 150yds out is a whole lot more comfortable and confidence building than looking from 190. Realize now that with my strong (hand position ) grip holding too firmly just rolled my wrists too often closing the face and losing the loft and clean contact.

either way felt today like the driver was just flying down the path and my hands were along for the ride. A little too much mental effort in the driving left me a little weak on the short game concentration today (shot 86 which is about my usual when the game is on) but now have the confidence with the driver so should be knocking off several strokes and maybe break 80 (i hope) by the end of summer. anyway- who ever mentioned this tip= I owe you big time
