  • More strange things on the Golf Channel . .

My ears *****ed up when "coming over the top" was mentioned on the Golf Channel yesterday during a show with instructor Carl Rabito (I think) he went on to say that a lot of people think this is caused by a shoulder lunge, but that it was - Quote :"ANATOMICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO COME OVER THE TOP WITH YOUR SHOULDERS"
Well, I just had to stand up and prove him wrong, which I did with consummate ease - I don`t know if he meant to say something else, but I can assure him that it is more than possble to come over, and consequently out to in, with the shoulders, I`m a natural at it, I`ve been doing it ALL SUMMER.
And another thing - I was watching Monty on "Playing lessons with the pros", and he hit a 6 iron 170 yards onto the green, no suprise there, except then he calmly lays his club in his divot and casually points out that his divots always go 30 degrees left?????
How can you hit a straight ball from A to B with a swing path that goes across the target line as much as that? Physics would dictate that the only way it can get to B is by fading it, but he didn`t do that, in fact he reckons his natural shot is a draw.
I was totally gobsmacked by all this as all my divots go 30 degrees left (cause I come over the top) and it`s been killing me all summer and I`ve tried everything to get rid of it in time for my annual golfing trip to Scotland (it`s too late now, I`m going Saturday)

If I remember correctly, Monty natural shot was a draw but he played the fade because he could control it better. They can control it though, they want to control. Why change what's working for them? What I don't understand is this comment mariner...

'How can you hit a straight ball from A to B with a swing path that goes across the target line as much as that?'

Where did he say that the ball went straight? It faded. It went from where the ball started (30 degrees left of the pin, where his divot was pointed) and tailed off to the right. Most of us would call this a fade. You can think of it as 'straight' but you would be wrong my friend.

I hope I understood what you said mate, if I didn't I apologise.
