  • Blocking every shot right

I have been playing around 2 years now, I began off a 21 handicap and this summer have been chopped down to 15. With my massive fear of going back to a high handicap I have began to try and hit the ball hard. This has caused me to start swaying during my swing. I get a good contact on the shot and don't loose distance, it's just that every shot tends to be 10/20 yeards right. Is this the cause of blocking my shots right?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Re: Blocking every shot right

You've just identified your own two faults. Swaying and trying to hit the ball too hard. Stop it! and you'll play just fine. If your playing off 15 now, then you are likely to be pretty consistent on the course. Don't worry about having a rough game now and again. We are never going to play in The Masters, or the British Open, but you are unlikely to start hurtling back up to the high handicaps either. Relax and enjoy the game and you'll play at your best.

    Cheers.
    Lee.

      Re: Blocking every shot right

I just finished a round where I tried a couple of different things. While it was easier to trust my swing, I found that I was leaving shots out to the right.

Once I moved the ball up 2 widths in my stance, every shot was straight... it was wonderful. Having the ball too far back meant I was still coming from the inside during my swing - resulting in the push.

Just something you might want to check.
