I have started playing golf a lot lately, but I don't seem to be improving at all. As I fix a problem with my swing, another starts, and I seem to be getting worse and worse. I'm not sure if club length matters, but i'm 6'4 and my friend, who's about 5'6 uses clubs a couple inches longer than mine. But anyways, I can't strike the ball cleanly, and the divits im taking are too big, or sometimes i top the ball. I try to keep my body still, and I'm being told I'm doing everythong correctly, but I can't fix the problem. The worst thing is that no matter what, I've developed a very bad hook with all my irons. The ball will hook way left by the time the ball has gone around 50 yards, and the hook is really bad, like 20 yards to the left. So I'll have a ridiculous hook off the teebox right into the woods. I know it's hard to help since u you can't see my swing, but any common fixes, or maybe club lengths I should be using?

Re: Serious Problems
You are right, to offer help when you can't see how you are swinging, is tough.
When there are a lot of things going bad, the best thing to do is to review the fundamentals. Get Ben Hogan's "Five Fundamentals of Golf", a classic by the way, and read the book and review the fundamentals in the book. There are other's too.
Unfortunately, there are no magic fixes, it takes some hard detective work and dedicated practice.
If you listen to what the pro's tell you, including Jack N. and all the others this is the best way, review the fundamentals.

Re: Serious Problems
After some practice about a week ago, I had started hitting the irons much better. Straight and long, and most of the time, no hook to the ball. But Now I can't even get my driver to hit in the air. I used to be able to hit the ball around 280, but never straight, becuase of course i didn't have ther proper swing. But now I can't even get the ball to go to yards. So I went to the range and practiced with my driver with a whole bucket. No luck. So I go to hit the last few with the irons, and it's like ive never golfed in my life. I can't change between driver and iron swings, and once i tried, I can't hit a ball at all. I have had mnay people try to help me and have had much practice, but no luck. What the hell?

Re: Serious Problems
well what i mean is that before really getting into gold, i couldn't hit irons, but i could crank balls with a driver. Of course Id swing wrong and slice alot, but they would go a consistent 280 when the slice was minimal, but not that ive learned how to correctly swing, eith the ball go down right of the tee and makes it 10 yrads, or it skips off right when i come in contact wiht it. and as i try to fix this problem, I have now lost the iron swing, so I'm worse than when I started. Its extremely discouraging, when you accomlplish something, then when you set another goal, you find youself further behind than when you started. People just can't seem to figure out what my problem is, and eventually just give up on me.
