  • Right thumb position & wicked slice

To some extent i have always been prone to slice the ball but recently i have developed the most wicked slice with my driver where the ball flys 230 yards forward and 60-70 yards right of my target.

I have recently purchased a new driver (fusion FT3 ) but i noticed that i have begun resting my right thumb on the left side of the club rather than straight down the center.

I probably have more bad habbits than most people have had hot dinners but the thumb thing seems to be new. When i do put my thumb down the center it seems to put more pressure on my wrists at the top of the swing and i loose distance. The slice is only marginally better (on some shots)

    help appreciated

Your thumb should rest across the shaft (to the left for righties), not down the shaft. As you mentioned, down the shaft creates too much thumb pressure and I find it also promotes casting and 'flipping' the wrists.
