  • Shaft angle at impact.

    Hi all,

I've been watching my swing on video and I saw that the shaft angle is more upright through the impact than it is at the stance.
Then I realized that if I try to maintain the same shaft angle, I have got to do a big effort.
This could be caused by a non proper stance or is this a swing problem?

    Any adviced is appreciated. Thanks.

    Toni.

    Re: Shaft angle at impact.

What are the result of your shots? Are they going right? If so, then probably you are changing you spine angle - raising up at impact.

If your setup is too low to start - hands very low, and your back slouching, then you are probably too far away from the ball having to reach, and your impact compensates.

One thing to take note: Depending on you camara shutter speed, you might be looking at the bow in the shaft and mistaking that for uprightness. The shaft WILL bow downwards. A slow shutter speed will blur that picture and make it look like a straight line and usualy more upright then it actually is.

      Thanks Greg,

I took your advice to the range and I realize that I am raising up at impact. I think this could be because I've being practising since long time ago on a thin matt at home. At the beginning I suffered a neck injury by hitting down on the ball because the matt was too thin.
That made me raise the spine angle every time to sweep the ball instead of hitting it down.
      Thanks.
