  • Give me some feedback on this

I want to know what you guys think about balance. Yesterday I was hitting some golf balls at lunch and noticed that if I try to concentrate on keeping my body from falling forward or backward and instead keep it very steady and centered on the balls of my feet then I hit some really good shots. The key in my swing is to make sure I keep my balance and then make sure I start my swing with my lower body i.e. for me that is a slight lateral shift with my left hip.
I want to hear what you all think about this and how it applies to your swings.

you have to be balanced or nothing but bad will happen, you also have to keep back sraight (no hunch) so body can rotate properly.a slow back swing will help ingrain the start of your swing with legs, hips and body the arms will follow.its 60 in wisconsin today im off to the course

I think balance is also one of the most important key to the golf swing. I focus a lot on balance especially with my longer clubs and make sure that I am very stable. Without balance, I dont think you can create a consistent swing.
What I focus is to ensure that my weight is distributed nicely through my feet (weight on heel and toes are even). When I turn, the weight is shifting towards the right feet but is maintained between the left and right foot. On the downswing, do the same but weight is inside of the left foot (never on it either it).

One additional thing that I do when trying to hit drivers is really focus on keeping my thighs strong to maintain the balance and I find that the shots are also stronger from it.

Balance is extremely important like in any sport. If you aren't in balance then your body has to make compensations that it needn't which causes inconsistencies.
