  • Questions on balance, grip and the mind...

    Gentlemen,
Often when I make a swing that feels like a good one, I feel as though I am going to fall over my left foot after impact (my left big toe to be precise). Does anyone have experience with this type of stuff?

With my grip I find I either control the club with either one hand or the other and often get some sort of antagonistic action happening. Do good players feel that they control the club with both hands at all times?

Sorry if these questions are strange, it's a strange game.

I seem to learn best by anecdote - can anyone tell me a good story about what goes on in the mind of a good golfer? Rather than mechanical thoughts, there must be a thought process that allows the sub-conscious to swing the club while somehow the desired outcome of the shot is kept in mind...

    Thanks
    Heathcliff

Hi there i play of an handicap of 8 and play to it most weekends
my main thought when playing any golf shot is to keep it smooth and balanced an not put to much thought on distance a good swing thou ght is let the club in hand do the work.

sounds like your reaching to much for the ball, it feels powerfull but hard to keep balanced and impact has to be perfect or your in the woods.address the ball get your weight on the balls of your feet arms shoud be almost straight down work on fallow thru and finish of swing, and hold it till the ball lands. as for concious thought im only thinking of the target, when im hitting the ball real well and hitting greens i dont even remember hitting the ball.keep the mind clear you should only be thinking of hitting your target. try setting up to some balls and hit them with your eyes closed or tee up 15 to 20 ball and just fire away one after the other, no thoughts no tension youll like the outcome. hope it helps

        Thanks for the advice,

I'm not wanting to fall over as I swing at the moment, so that might have passed. Hope so anyway.
