As a kid I would mostly play baseball and hockey so when I began playing golf I had a natural slice. I never took lessons because I was cheap and stubborn. I spent two full years playing with an incredible slice. At times it was embarassing it was so bad. I felt like I had tried everything possible to fix the slice, but to no avail. I first stumbled upon this website about 6 months ago. After reading some threads I began to realize that there were inherent fundamental aspects of my swing causing the slice. It became apparent that I needed to completely overhaul my swing because any baseball-like swing is not going to work. So for the past few months I've been reading this website and going to the range once or twice a week. I'm happy to report that my game has improved dramatically. I used to be a consistent 105-115 player, now I'm shooting 85-90 and hope to improve further (i.e. short game). Anyways, I want to thank all who contribute to this website, your discussions and tips have been very helpful. Here are some of the things I found most important to improving my game:
-hold the club very lightly
-rotate your body / do not slide your hips
-play relaxed!
