I was just wondering you guys thoughts on ball position. I have read a lot of articles and know the theory of ball placement throughout the different clubs in the bag. For the most part I do play the ball forward with my driver and fairway woods. But for me I love to play the ball back in my stance for my irons. I feel if I put the ball too far forward with my irons I end up coming over the top and hit pulls. Is it bad that I like the ball back in my stance.

Re: ball position
Having the ball back in the stance creates higher loft, and more spin.
Having the ball forward in the stance creates a flatter trajectory, and more forward roll.
Many people think opposite, because they hit their driver forward in the stance, and it goes high. They forget that they have a tee under the ball, which allows them to control the flight alot more then w/o one.

Re: ball position
Play the ball where ever you feel comfortable. But you need to understand a few basics. Assuming you have a semi normal setup and swing, playing the ball back delofts the club face causing the ball to fly lower and will generate more backspin. Playing the ball forward causes a higher shot. When I need to hit a shot 100 yards over a very tall tree I play the ball forward and open my stance this causes a high fade. The golden bear played ALL his shots off the left heel but he had great leg drive throuh the ball.
Good Luck.
