Why is everyone so obsessed with distance? Take another club.
I don't know really. When my friend and I play par 3's he takes only a 7, 9, PW, SW, and his putter. He plays 210 holes with his 7 iron. We got into a big argument before about power...
I told him "Dude, why do you hit so hard? Why don't you just swing easy with a lower club." He replied "Well, if you want to get good, you should play like the pros right? They take full swings." I finally told him "Yeah, they swing full. but you don't have a professionals swing." He got really pissed off. He ended up breaking his SW by repeatedly hitting the sand, after a bad pitch.
This same guy was telling me about how fast his swing speed is. He said it was 110. Of course, I asked him if that was recorded while he was hitting balls. It wasn't.
What do we Know about increasing club head speed?
Untill you can hit draws, fades, low, high, stop, spin, roll shots, I wouldn't worry about distance. If you can do all those things, your distance will increase lots. So, I guess it's reasonably safe to say work on your draw, fade, low, high, stop, spin, roll shots and you will get more distance.
To increase your club head speed, strength training is the way to go. If you want to increase your distance though, there are a lot of things.

I played a bunch with Peter Beames last summer, who was Gary Player's coach back in the day. We were in a fairway about 110 out waiting for the green to clear one day and I asked him what he was hitting.
"5 iron."
"5?"
"Watch."
With that, he hit a low cut that bounced once and stopped dead, 3 feet from the hole.
"Always remember," he said, "it don't matter how you get there."
That's one lesson I'll never forget.

Mine's 108 swinging out of my shoes, probably 95 on a regular swing. I've also found the easier I swing the straighter they go
I've been using an Inpractis kiosk at the range and I've seen my club head speed (and distance) increase just by working on my lag. I'm not into weight training -- though that and stretching more would help! -- so I tried to focus on technique. By maintaining my lag until the point that my hands are almost in front of the ball, I have added 10 MPH to my club head speed, while feeling like I am swinging easier.
I just try to hit through the ball, not worried about clubhead speed. I like to transfer all the power I am creating into the ball and my club travels faster after I have hit the ball.
