  • Help! My Swing always goes to Right hand side!!!

    Hello,

I have a big problem with my swing. If 12'o Clock is the target my ball always goes to 1'o Clock or 2'o Clock. It always goes to the right of the target. Sometimes it goes straight to the right of the target or sometimes it takes a swing from my target line and ends up @ 2'o Clock area. This is happening all the time. What could be wrong? Is there any drill which could help me to achieve straight line shot??

thanks in advance for your response

    sunny.

The reason for this is the clubface is left open at impact, hence the ball is influenced to the right.

Most mistakes occur within the first 3 feet of the swing. You could be rolling the clubface open during your takeaway by manipulating the club with your hands.

    Drill:

you need two clubs for this.

After taking your setup set a club down outside of your right foot so that it is straight (parallel left of your target or to be more easily understood, it should be in a straight line with your hips.

When you are halfway back the club should be parallel or slightly inside the club that is on the ground you should see 2.5 knuckles on your left hand, the toe of the club should point to the sky, and the club should be parallel of your ball-target line. It can be slightly outside for a fade or slightly inside for a draw.

Take the club back halfway check to see that your knuckle count has not changed(you should see2to 2.5 knuckles on your left hand) if you are adding knuckles then the clubface is rolling into an open position, if you see less knuckles then you are closing the clubface.

I have this same problem and have listened to numerous advice and read lots of columns. I have noticed that when it happens the one thing that is happening is that my top (arms) are out of sync with my bottom (legs and hips) You've read so much about getting your hips out of the way that you are leaving yourself open at impact and slightly pushing the ball. Try keeping your feet together and take a few practice swings this will help get you back in sync. Also try to keep your left arm sort of tied to your chest as you come back through.

Another thing to check is are you staying down all the way through the swing. If i come up out of the swing early it pushes the ball to the right. If i keep my arms under my chin and follow through by releasing the club it will go straight or draw a little.

one last thing..check to make sure you are maintaining your spine tilt all the way through the swing. It's nice to get a good set up but if you don't maintain that spine angle it will cause you to push the ball.

It doesn't sound like you slicing the ball you're just pushing it ever so much.

      Hope this helps
